Section 1: Introduction
When I completed my Graphic Design foundation degree in 2018, I had no idea on what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go. Whilst I enjoyed elements of graphic design, I knew something was missing. I lacked motivation for the course and was happy doing the bare minimum. Upon realisation that I was unhappy with my position, I moved from Nottingham, back home and took a year out to rejuvenate. This is where I discovered Design Management at Birmingham City University.
In 2019, during my first week on the BA Design Management course I instantly connected with the modules, research, strategic thinking and theorists. Before I had graduated, I knew I was not finished with the study of Design Management. My passion and excitement for the course pushed me to further my studies onto the postgraduate level. The past year to this moment has been extremely explorative and allowed me to grow as a business creative. Alongside my professionalism and academia, I have had a great sense of personal development, developing a true understanding of myself and goals.
The research aim for this Professional Development Plan is to focus on ‘How can I develop professionally and personally to help achieve my goals?’.
This will involve researching:
1. Who am I?
2. Where am I now?
3. Where do I want to go?
4. How will I get there?
